Tough question yeah? I actually pondered on this question for a very long time; I wanted to come up with a sincere answer. Eventually I came up with an answer…NO!  I would never be friends with my ex, most especially; if he was the one that broke up with me and I’m probably hurting and possibly still has feelings for him. On the other hand, if I somehow along the way ran into some reaaaalllly cute, charming and romantic guy who treats me better than my so called boyfriend does, and I decide to break up with my boyfriend because I’m madly into this new guy, then of course I wouldn’t mind being friends with him after the break up and I hope he wont mind being friends with me too.*rolls eyes*.

Basically, I think the answer to this question is dependent on the basis for the breakup of the relationship. If he hurt my feelings, then I say to hell with him, I would run him over in the dark with my car but if we broke up on good terms… who breaks up on good terms though? Anyways, let’s take a look at comments from professionals who have had such experiences and what they have to say.

Amaka: Radio Presenter Ondo FM

“Of course!!! All you need do is forgive him for whatever reason you broke up with him. It makes you feel better and ready to move on. Presently, my best friend at the moment is my ex, we dated for 5 years and we broke up. Right now, we have a perfect understanding, we are very open to each other and I must say, I could never wish for a better friend than my ex”!

Muna: Media Presenter

“NO NO NO!!! I would never be friends with my ex, because whenever I’m with him, memories of the past will definitely keep flooding back to remind me of how and why it didn’t work out and how I failed in my relationship”.

Danny: Businessman

“Yes of course, I can be friends with my ex. Relationship is beyond what we can see. It doesn’t have to be all about intimacy, we can be useful to each other in the nearest future”.

Ajebo: Radio Presenter 9Ja FM, Comedian (Listen to Ajebo on 9ja FM 102.7 11-4pm mon-fri)

“Why not? All of my ex’s are still good friends with me except na the girl no want oh. Not too good though cos if I’m with an ex that I still have feelings for …hmmm*thinking*old firewood na im dey burn pass ooh”!

Chiedozie: Engineer

“Naa, I cant be friends with my ex…It makes no sense and I cannot stand watching her date another guy so it’s better to blank her totally and we go our separate ways”.

As the saying goes, its different strokes for different people.  I’d love to hear your opinions on this issue. Please cast your votes!

Have a great weekend!

TO HIT OR TO CHEAT??

Posted: August 10, 2012 in Uncategorized

The other day on the internet someone asked this question:

Ladies, which would you prefer your boyfriend did to you? Hit you or Cheat on you?

First of all, permit me to laugh out loud.

Really? Hit or cheat? Really?

Well, you guessed right, today’s rant is about relationships but please before you get too excited let me just state it here that I am writing this post from my father’s house. Well ‘father’s house’ is figurative because I am not physically writing this from my father’s house but I will return there at the end of today because I am not married.

Father’s house = Not married

I hope that is clear enough. Please let’s move on. Now, I said that to say this; I am not the best person to ask questions about relationships. I will laugh at you; then give you directions to Festac if you wanted to go to Ikeja. Then again, I might be because I’ve heard that the best people to give you advice on a situation are people that are not in the same situation. Don’t think too much about it just accept it.

Back to the question; would you prefer if your boyfriend hits you or cheats on you? I don’t know how you couldn’t find this question funny unless, of course, the joke is on you. In that case, accept my condolences. As long as sympathy goes, that’s all I have for today. So permit me to play the devil’s advocate.

Some people actually responded to the question that day albeit truthfully which had me shedding Stella Damasus tears in mirth. Wait. So some of you would prefer for someone to hit you rather than cheat on you? Or you would rather he goes around sleeping with everybody in fact anybody, than hit you?

You see the funny thing about this is God has a great sense of humor. So you would prefer him to cheat on you; well it’s all fun and games until he comes back with HIV. Oh! Here’s a good one, you catch him with another man. Would you still prefer him to cheat then? Imagine meeting another girl with this boyfriend/husband/lover/etc and all you can think of is “is he cheating on me with this one too?” Then you’d be leaving a life worrying whether he is out there with another woman/man or if he is really working late like he told you. So you are in a relationship without a shred of trust for the person you want to spend the rest of your life with? With time you become an emotional wreck so much so that you start to lose it mentally. Scary huh?

Wouldn’t you rather just have a man that is ready to beat the shit out of you and not have eyes for anyone else? Laugh out loud. See that’s not a bad idea until you end up dead. How about that? Or maybe it does not get so bad; like you do not die. But you know you can only lie for so long about wearing bandages or always showing up with a black eye. I mean, for how long are you going to keep falling down the stairs sister? When your skull is finally cracked open or a washing machine is thrown at you?

Let me digress. I’ve heard a lot of bizarre things, trust me, I watched nkan nbe every Sunday for about a year but people of the world; edakun, how do you THROW a WASHING MACHINE at your wife?

Tonto, confuse is catching me too. When it’s not like you are The Hulk.

Anyway, I’d like to hear from you reading this. It’ll only take about 3 seconds, vote and let’s know which you’d prefer.

I know where my vote is   😀

Bye

Nigerians in Diaspora are yet to come to terms with the shocking display of speedster, Blessing Okagbare that some have blamed spiritual forces for her disappointing race. Blessing placed 8th in a pack of high-profile athletes, some she had beaten before. Mother of one of Team Nigeria’s athlete, Mrs Glory Udoh who came to the Olympic Village yesterday said that it was so glaring that spiritual forces were against the Nigerian. ‘’We wept openly yesterday. You could see her struggling to get off the block. But they have failed, because God has taken supremacy and control of Team Nigeria’s activities. Her name is a blessing, and God has blessed her that no evil forces will stand on the way of the team, again. Mrs Udoh who flew all the way from Houston to London to be with her daughter said that Team Nigeria will surprise many in their remaining events. ‘’God has opened the floodgates for His children to arise and shine. Team Nigeria shall move and nothing will stand on their way again’’, she preached.

After a nail-biting finale, South African housemate – Keagan has been voted as the winner of the Big Brother Africa StarGamereality show.

The last portion of the finale came down to the trio of Keagan, Prezzo and Lady May. In the end, 22 Year Old South African Keagan prevailed.

There were hot performances from international stars including Naeto C and D’banj, however, all eyes were on the housemates including voted-off housemates who came back to the stage for the finale!

Runner-Up Prezzo was recognized for his charity awareness work in the house and has been chosen as a One Campaign ambassador and will jet off to New York to watch Jay-Z in concert.

Keagan carts away the mega $300,000 prize and possibly a relationship with fellow housemate Talia who gave him a tender kiss as she was voted off during the finale.

I DO NOT HAVE A DREAM

Hey!

I was thinking of apologising and explaining why I have not been writing in a while then I realised; nobody even cares. So I’m just going to jump right into it.

Yaaaaaay! It’s the Olympics!

I love the Olympics and once upon a time, I was going to run for Nigeria. During Sydney 2000, I was watching Marion Jones and I thought “by 2008, I want to run for Nigeria”. This is 2012, and even though I am not running for Nigeria, I am not running for Nigeria!

That was my cool story for the day and morale of the story, follow your dreams.

Yes, I know that didn’t even make any sense. I also think following your dream does not make any sense.

Lets question the ‘follow your dreams’ school of thought; does it work all the time? Hell, how does it even work? Is following your dreams really what’s best for you? Will following your dreams not be detrimental to yourself and the world at large? Before you start throwing tomatoes and sachets of pure water at me, please hear me out.

I have a dream. And in that dream, I am wealthy. Very wealthy. I get married to Dustin Clare and we have jets and boats with which we are able to tour the world. In that dream, every leader of the world wants to spend just 5 minutes with me. Nigeria is begging me to be their president and I’m like “no bitches, I want none of that”.  In my dream, I am close pals with Michael Jackson and I never miss being front row VIP for Manchester United matches; like all the guys on the team including Sir Alex Ferguson look forward to seeing me every week because I’m their lucky charm. Of course, I’m so wealthy that I can afford to fly down Florence and all her Machines to play me to sleep every other night. In my dream…

Ok, you get my point.

The real question is how do I even start following my dream?

Look, at every phase in my life I have had dreams. And the honest truth is that I am happy I didn’t go through with them. Imagine I had followed the dream I had when I was 11; I would have ended up like this guy:

This guy is the reason why we should not all follow our dreams. Gather round let me educate you on the legend that is Vic O. In this guy’s dreams he is the best rapper ever, period. Growing up1, he would listen to Tupac, BIG, then later Eminem and JayZ and be like “screw these niggas, you all a’int shit” (yes he thinks Eminem is a nigga). Then he travelled to Italy. Now while in Italy, doing odd jobs including being a nanny to old women (cause I mean look at this guy, he doesn’t even have the pedigree to be a pimp for Edo girls trooping to Italy daily), he stumbled on this new social network called twitter. Once he had gotten a hang of it, he decided to follow all artistes he had heard of home and abroad; you know what they say about keeping your friends close and your enemies closer? Yeah.

He would later hear of the Enigma competition by Don Jazzy and say to himself “this is the opportunity I have been waiting for! Let me show the world what I can do”. Well, the rest is history and that is how we came to be burdened with the show of shame that is Vic O.

This follow your dream business, is the reason why we won’t be great. While we are all chasing dreams, some other people are achieving feats they never thought they could. With the rising number of people getting into music in the name of becoming musicians, think of the number of people we are losing who could have thrived in agriculture. Just think.

I am of the opinion that Vic O would have done better as a restaurant owner. He is from Cross River, imagine if he had opened one (you know his people can cook very well), I say he would have been making a lot more money than he is, regardless of what he tells us. Now this guy’s audacity has inspired a lot of other run-of-the-mills including his arch-rival Speed Darlington.

This guy is worse than Vic O, imagine the horror.

Please this is a PSA to everyone; it is not by force to follow dreams. Perhaps you can follow your talent but that one is even up for debate, because even Vic O thinks he has talent. Yes, he may have talent but DEFINITELY not rapping, I mean look at the guy:

How can he think he can rap and worse attempt it? Have you seen his music videos? (if I can even call them that). This guy can not rap to get a glass of water in a desert. He can not even… in short Calabar people come and carry your brother.

Bye

Please bear in mind that Vic O is at least 45 years old. Saying he grew up listening to Tupac was just figurative, he was already grown up before then.

All eyes where on Davido as he arrived at the venue for his album launch. The man of the day was guarded into the venue because of his ever loving fans who wanted to get hold of the music crooner. Davido kept his look simple in a red Addidas track suit jacket, grey jeans and black slippers.

The 30 year old mother was spotted yesterday during a shopping trip around manhattan district in New york with her daughter’s face left unguarded inside a shop. No one is sure of the source but the person who snapped the photo must have been pretty smart about it.

Coming out of the store, Beyonce covered her with a white blanket showing her bare legs with her face pressed tightly against her chest to avoid her being snapped. Hehehehe…If only she knew…
